3.1.3.2. Gear belt

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

The wrong installation of a gear belt can lead to very heavy damages of the engine. At a lack of experience address in a workshop.


Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the bottom casing of a motor compartment.
2. Remove a poliklinovy belt.
3. Remove a natyazhitel of a poliklinovy belt. For this purpose a natyazhitel slowly weaken and turn out a bolt with an internal shestigrannik of SW 10.
4. A casing of a gear belt from both parties unfasten and remove.
5. A cranked shaft put about situation VMT for the cylinder 1. For this purpose a transmission switch to neutral transfer, tighten the hand brake and for the central bolt of fastening of a belt pulley to a cranked shaft turn a cranked shaft in the direction clockwise while the label on belt a pulley – In – will not rise against an adjusting label – A.Zdes is necessary strongly bent ring wrench or a replaceable face head of SW 24 (a dual shestigrannik).
6. At the same time big openings in adjusting payments of cogwheels of camshafts should be located inside on the relation to each other, otherwise turn a cranked shaft on one turn.
7. In this situation a cranked shaft stop. For this purpose turn out on the left side from a case the sensor of the moment of ignition. The sensor is from above a case at height of the average cylinder.
8. Instead of the sensor screw a core of AUDI-3242 and easily tighten. The core enters thus into an opening on a counterbalance of a cranked shaft and stops it. Before to roll a core, check, whether it is visible or whether this opening is perceived.
9. Unscrew 8 bolts with internal shestigrannik of a quencher of krutilny fluctuations (a pulley of a maple belt on a cranked shaft).
Prevention

The central bolt do not release.


10. Remove the bottom casing of a gear belt.
11. A bolt of fastening of a tension roller of a gear belt – 1 – release by means of 8 mm of a natural an external shestigrannik. The same key a tension roller turn to the right in the arrow direction thanks to what the tension of a gear belt weakens.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. A tension roller turn evenly to the right while the tension lever – 2 – will not drown a tension rod so deeply that it is possible to insert 2 mm a core, for example, a drill or spring шплинт. A core insert, and by that the tension roller will be stopped.
Prevention

If the belt which was in the use is again used, surely designate an arrow by means of a felt-tip pen or a marker the direction of its movement. Installation of a gear belt in the opposite direction can lead movements to its break and heavy damages of the engine. Therefore a belt always establish so that the arrow put on it specified in the direction of rotation of the engine (clockwise if to look in front).


2. Unscrew directing roller of a poliklinovy belt.
3. Remove a casing of a gear belt from a cranked shaft.
4. Remove a gear belt.
Prevention

The gear belt cannot be bent.


5. The bent belt should be replaced always as at the subsequent operation it can become torn that will lead to heavy damages of the engine. The provision of cogwheels whenever possible do not change.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Bolts of fastening of cogwheels of camshafts at the left and on the right release approximately on 3 turns, bolts do not turn out.
2. Cogwheels of camshafts at the left and on the right shift from cones by means of a stripper. Captures of a stripper should be got for a back end face of a nave.

Prevention

Cogwheels should be shifted from cones so that they on camshafts were mobile, but did not shake.


3. A gear belt impose on both cogwheels of camshafts, then on directing roller and a cogwheel of a cranked shaft and, at last, on a tension roller.
4. Establish AUDI-3243 clamp (for the engine with working volume of 2,8 l (30 valves): AUDI-3391).

ENGINES WITH TWO VALVES ON THE CYLINDER (TO 174 HP)

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. A bolt of fastening of a tension roller by means of a natural an external shestigrannik of SW 8 tighten so that the roller on the clown could turn easily still by hand.
2. A tension roller by means of a natural an external shestigrannik of SW 8 turn to the right and hold. Thanks to it the gear belt stretches.
3. A bolt of fastening of a tension roller of a gear belt tighten by means of the second natural an external shestigrannik of SW 8.
4. Check a tension of a gear belt. For this purpose take a gear belt big and index fingers in the middle between a cogwheel of a camshaft and the pump of cooling liquid and braid. The gear belt should allow twisting only on 90 degrees.
5. Otherwise a bolt of fastening of a tension roller release and a tension roller respectively tighten, the demanded tension of a belt will not be reached yet.
6. A cranked shaft of the engine turn by hand on one turn in the direction of rotation and repeat check of a tension of a belt, if necessary a belt tighten.
7. A bolt of fastening of a tension roller tighten the moment of 45 Nanometers.

ENGINES WITH FIVE VALVES ON THE CYLINDER (WITH WORKING VOLUME OF 2,8 L (30 VALVES), 193 HP)

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. A tension roller by means of a natural an external shestigrannik of SW 8 turn to the right so that it was possible to withdraw fixing pin from a tension element. A pin pull out.
2. By means of a dinamometrichesky natural an external shestigrannik of SW 8 tighten a tension roller of a gear belt the moment of 15 Nanometers. A bolt of fastening of a tension roller tighten the moment of 20 Nanometers.
3. Directing roller of a poliklinovy belt tighten the moment of 45 Nanometers.
4. Cogwheels of camshafts tighten the moment of 70 Nanometers (at the engine with working volume of 2,8 l (30 valves) – 55 Nanometers). A clamp of camshafts unscrew.
5. A pin of fixing of a cranked shaft turn out.
6. The sensor of the moment of ignition wrap the moment of 10 Nanometers.
7. Establish the bottom casing of a gear belt.
8. A quencher of krutilny fluctuations insert so that the ledge on a cogwheel of a cranked shaft entered into a groove of a quencher of krutilny fluctuations. By means of a key of 8 mm with an external shestigrannik tighten a quencher of krutilny fluctuations the moment of 25 Nanometers.
9. Establish the left and right casings of a gear belt.
10. The device of a tension of a poliklinovy belt expose so that the fixing pin entered into an opening in the block of cylinders. A bolt with an internal shestigrannik tighten the moment of 45 Nanometers.
11. Fix casings of a gear belt from both parties.
12. Establish a poliklinovy belt.
13. Establish the bottom casing of a motor compartment.
14. Lower the car.
