8.1.4.1. Malfunctions of the generator

GENERAL INFORMATION

When the control lamp does not die away at normal operation of the engine, malfunction, most likely – in the generator. The truth short circuit on a chain site between a control lamp and the generator yields the same result.

Also check by means of the indicator tension existence on the big socket of the generator. Here it should be always – if it is not present, check generator connection to the storage battery. If the tension regulator on your car is located separately from the generator, it too can be faulty. In this case it is better to remove the generator and a regulator of tension and to address to the autoelectrician.

The simplest check of a current of loading of the generator is made so: marker lights of the car join and the engine is started. If at the working engine fires do not start to burn more brightly, this best proof of that the generator does not give a current. If you have a voltmeter, connect it to plugs of the storage battery and start the engine. GENERATOR
REASON
Bad contact of brushes Brushes hanged (dirt), are worn-out. Contact rings are polluted.
Malfunction of the vypryamitelny block Connections of plugs with conclusions of the battery of a "mass" wire are polluted or is absent. A mistake at battery connection (return polarity). The wrong connection to the additional battery at engine start-up. Electric welding was carried out at the connected generator. Absence of contact of conclusions in generator sockets, pollution of conclusions or defeat by their corrosion.
Malfunction of the bearing
Arises because of an excessive tension of a driving belt more often. At load of a generator pulley the sliping belt publishes a sharp sound which at all does not mean that a belt will pull. The worn-out driving belt leans on a bottom of a stream of a pulley, instead of on lateral walls of a pulley, as generates such sound.
